News Archives 2009Thursday, 10 December 2009: The value of Multimedia Polska brand up by over five million According to the latest ranking of Poland’s most valuable brands by the daily Rzeczpospolita, Multimedia Polska increased the value of its brand by over five million from PLN 109.3 million last year to PLN 114.4 million and was ranked 104th, just behind TVN24 and before Netia, Aster, and Vectra. In a mini-ranking, where companies are listed by reference to the percentage of customers ready to recommend their brand to other users, Multimedia Polska was listed 27th, far ahead of ‘n’ DTH platform and TVN. Tuesday, 8 December 2009: Negotiations with the banks brought to a successful close PLN 400 million is the total amount of the facility extended to us under an agreement with the consortium of PKO S.A., Millennium S.A., and WestLB AG London Branch. The money will be used towards streamlining our finances and creating new investment opportunities. - The first drawdown from the facility will be used to refinance our existing debt, and the remainder will be spent on capital investments that are now under discussions. Our top priority when allocating the funds available under the facility will be to deliver the best possible rate of return and to make sure our investments are safe - comments Stefan Kossecki, Head of Investor Relations. The final repayment day of the loan is 31 December 2014. Thursday, 12 November 2009: Multimedia Polska introduces mobile broadband under the brand name MobilNET The interest in mobile broadband is growing rapidly. Convenience, ease of web access outside the home, and often also fashion and style, are among the key factors behind its huge popularity. As from 12 November, Multimedia’s offering also involves mobile broadband sold under the brand MobilNET. MobilNET is available as an add-on service on top of fixed-line broadband. Customers interested in the hybrid offer, combining fixed-line and mobile broadband, can choose from among three mobile transfer limits – 1 GB, 2 GB or 4 GB, while fixed-line internet remains free of any data transfer limits. Pricing depends on the type of bundle and duration of the contract. The one-time activation fee is PLN 39. A MobilNET modem and a 300 MB start-up SIM card are provided free of charge with installation instructions. The installation is very simple and to a large extent automatic. Once a data transfer limit purchased by our MobilNET user runs out, they can charge up their account with 1 GB, 2 GB, or 4 GB at any time. Users receive a text message from their mobile provider if their limit is out. They can also access their account and check their remaining credit by logging on to www.multimedia.pl. - Our offer is addressed to people looking for a product that combines the advantages of fixed-line and mobile access. With a mobile device, the user can enjoy mobile broadband, and he or she is not restricted by transfer limits usually applied by mobile operators. Large files may be downloaded or uploaded at home using the landline connection while internet and e-mails can easily be accessed from any spot within the range of MobilNET. – says Przemysław Sypniewski, Head of Key Projects Department at Multimedia Polska. MobilNET will be provided using the infrastructure of one of the Polish mobile operators – Play. Monday, 1 June 2009: Video-on-demand (VoD)—our innovative service, available to all Multimedia Polska subscribers, has been awarded the Polish Promotional Emblem “Teraz Polska” in the Innovative Undertakings category. Winners of the 19th edition of the competition were announced on 1 June 2009 at the Presidential Palace. The congratulations diploma was received from Mr. Paweł Wypych, Secretary of State at the Presidential Chancellery, by our president Andrzej Rogowski. The prestigious “Teraz Polska” Promotional Emblem is awarded to Polish companies that offer products or services of the highest quality. It is awarded annually, through a competition organised by the Teraz Polska (Poland Now) Polish Promotional Emblem Foundation under the patronage of the President of the Republic of Poland. Update of the timetable of publication of periodic reports in 2009 The updated timetable of publication of periodic reports in 2009 is as follows: I. Extended consolidated quarterly reports: a) for Q1 2009 – 13 May 2009 II. Standalone 2008 annual report – 8 April 2009 III. Consolidated 2008 annual report – 8 April 2009 IV. Extended consolidated half-year 2009 report – 31 August 2009 The Management Board of Multimedia Polska S.A. also announces that, acting pursuant to Par. 101.2 of the Regulation, it will not publish the quarterly report for Q2 2009, and also in compliance with Par. 83 of the Regulation – separate standalone quarterly reports and half-year report. The company will publish consolidated quarterly reports, containing condensed quarterly financial information, and a consolidated half-year report – containing condensed half-year financial statements. Tuesday, 17 February 2009: The daily Puls Biznesu published its tenth ranking for the “Listed Company of the Year”. Multimedia Polska came 75th. It was our very first appearance in the ranking, and we made it fairly high straight away. The Listed Company of the Year was elected by 181 capital market experts, including market analysts, investment advisors and stock brokers, who responded to questions asked in a special telephone survey commissioned by Pentor Research International. All 384 listed companies were evaluated in the following areas: competencies of management, the quality of products and services offered, investor relations, development opportunities, successful achievements of last year, effects of changes on management boards, and buy recommendations on stock. |
